7mm vs 22mm. That’s the difference between my LESS (Lumbar Endoscopic Spine Surgery) approach and a traditional tubular microdiscectomy. Microdiscectomy is a great procedure. But with LESS, I don’t remove bone, I don’t detach the multifidus tendon, and I work through a 7mm cannula instead of a 22mm retractor. That smaller access corridor means less soft tissue disruption and a smaller incision. And I don’t even put on a dressing, just a little old Band-Aid. What more is there to say?
