This is what we’re actually dealing with inside the spine during Tarlov cyst surgery. One of the ways Tarlov Cysts forms is through a little film of tissue that organizes all the nerve roots in three dimensional space called trabeculae. They get very inflamed and thickened and create like a little maze in there. The surgery is to break up those little trabeculae. They’re extra thick because of inflammation and it becomes a self perpetuating problem. They get thick, which causes inflammation. Inflammation causes more thickening. More thickening causes more inflammation. It’s a vicious cycle. That’s how inflammation works. The nerve roots are not supposed to be stuck like this. They’re supposed to just float around free.
