Anterior neck surgery positioning hasn’t changed in 30 to 40 years, and that has always been one of my biggest frustrations in the OR. Before the Bonefoam NEXtend System, we were jerry-rigging everything, assembling rolled up blankets, IV bags, pillowcases, tape, wrist straps, sometimes weights, just to get the patient positioned so we could access the anterior neck and get a clean cross table x-ray view during surgery. Now there is an all-in-one system that is contemporary, easy to assemble, consistent, and accomplishes everything we need for anterior neck positioning in a way that anybody can do it. They are currently offering a free trial, so there is no drawback to at least checking it out. Follow for more on spine surgery and OR tips.
