Three tips for aspiring orthopedic surgeons that I genuinely believe can set you apart. First, practice talking out loud and get really good at expressing yourself and communicating verbally. One of the traits of orthopedic surgeons is that patience is not something we are really good at, so the more you practice verbalizing your thoughts, the better you will be at it. Second, be strategic about your schedule. In the olden days we used to think it was cool to function with no sleep. Nowadays that is not a good look. The good look is showing up well rested. Third, embrace AI. It can make you much more functional, which will make you much more valuable. Save this if you know someone heading into medicine.
